ÖSD Certificate A1

For the exam ÖSD Certificate A1 (previously: A1 Grundstufe Deutsch 1), participants should be able to communicate on an elementary basis in simple everyday situations.
ÖSD Certificate A1 is aimed at learners of German aged 14 and over and provides proof of language competence in routine situations with familiar topics and activities.
The skills tested are reading, listening, writing and speaking. The focus of this level is on the receptive skills of reading and listening.

Reading comprehension

The comprehension of different authentic simple texts from Austria, Germany and Switzerland is tested in terms of their overall message and individual content using three tasks.
Duration: 25 minutes

Listening comprehension

Three tasks test global, detailed and selective comprehension of authentic, simple listening texts spoken in standard language from Austria, Germany and Switzerland on everyday topics.
Duration: approx. 10 minutes

Writing

A form must be completed and a simple text written. The texts are evaluated using defined criteria (see evaluation form).
Duration: 20 minutes

 

Speak

The examination comprises three tasks: a short introduction, a simple description of the picture and a role play. The examination interview is conducted according to set criteria (see Evaluation form ) assessed.
Duration: approx. 10 minutes

Audit execution

The ÖSD Zertifikat A1 exam is offered in two modules: written exam (reading, listening, writing) and oral exam (speaking). The modules can be taken and certified individually or in combination. If both modules are passed on one examination date, an overall certificate is issued. Exam participants also receive an overall certificate if they have taken and passed both modules at the same examination center within one year. If an individual module is passed, a module certificate is issued.

The exam is taken by two trained ÖSD examiners. They then assess the candidates’ performance (see overall sheet). The evaluation sheet can be viewed on request. Here you can find the examination regulations and the implementation regulations.

It is possible to take only part of the exam.
Written exam only: € 90,-
