ÖSD Certificate C1

For the exam ÖSD Certificate C1 (previously: C1 Oberstufe Deutsch), participants should be able to communicate in various social and professional situations, including in more complex contexts. This exam for learners of German aged 16 and over is proof of linguistic competence that is already characterized by a high degree of correctness and situation-specific appropriateness.
ÖSD Certificate C1 is particularly aimed at learners of German who wish to study at a German-speaking university.

Reading comprehension

The comprehension of different authentic texts from Austria, Germany and Switzerland is tested in terms of their overall message and individual content using four tasks.
Duration: 90 minutes

Listening comprehension

Two tasks test global, detailed and selective comprehension of authentic standard-language listening texts from Austria, Germany and Switzerland on general and society-specific topics.
Duration: approx. 40 minutes

Writing

Using several specifications, two texts (formal e-mail; written presentation, statement or commentary) must be written, which must be evaluated using defined criteria (see evaluation sheet ).
Duration: 90 minutes

 

Speak

The oral examination comprises three tasks: a telephone conversation, a discussion and a short presentation. The examination interview is graded according to set criteria (see Evaluation form ) assessed.
Duration: approx. 15-20 minutes

This test is proof of linguistic competence that is already characterized by a high degree of correctness and situation-specific appropriateness.

The ÖSD Zertifikat C1 exam is particularly aimed at learners of German who wish to study at a German-speaking university. It is offered for learners aged 16 and over and in a version for young people aged 14 and over.

The ÖSD Zertifikat C1 exam consists of two modules: a written exam (reading, listening, writing) and an oral exam (speaking).

It is possible to take only part of the exam.
